Foster Care

Hanai Kids are the Greatest of Gifts

Supporting organizations that provide care for Native Hawaiian children separated from their parents is a core mission of The Hanai Hawaii Foundation.

The Foundation seeks to partner with organizations that utilize evidence-based interventions in their foster care programs that are proven to support happy, healthy and functioning families. Native Hawaiian keiki may enter foster care for a variety of reasons, including abuse, neglect or abandonment. We hope to partner with organizations that receive foster care referrals from Hawaii's Child Welfare Services that place each child with a relative or foster family during this time. Non-profit Foster Care organizations provide services that are geared toward keeping children safe and helping them return to their biological parents, remain with their extended family or find a permanent home. We look to partner with organizations that in addition to placing children and youth in homes with caring and supportive foster parents, also provide an array of other services that support the needs of children in foster care, including medical and mental health services, employment support and educational services.
